Summer Ending!

It's true. Summer is coming to a close, and the sun goes down earlier. I have less than two weeks left at my summer job, and then back to school!!! The summer has been good, but fairly busy. Pulling pranks has made work a little more interesting too (for some reason this year I couldn't avoid all the fun). Some exciting roadtrips, seeing friends, going to the beach and other things all made my summer pretty fun. This weekend I'm planning on going hiking/tenting with some friends of mine from school too. It would be nice to hold onto summer forever, in some ways.

Cheers,
Amy

On Second Thought...Exit Stage Left

Um...to put it bluntly. Some things don't go over well. I would like to apologize on behalf of my last post. It was uncalled for, and a result of frustration from guys at work. My apologies to all the true gentlemen of this world.

It turns out, I have many imperfections as well.

Limitations

Dear Cyperspace,

It turns out I have been put in a box again. I simply hate it when that happens. People try to put others in "boxes" or sterotypes often. This is because there is a common assumption that marginalized people are easier to understand. I do not believe this is true. People who feel limited tend to do one of two things: A) Draw back and no accomplish as much as they could, or B) Go over and beyond just to prove themselves. Both of these responses can be more harmful than helpful. How shall I choose to respond to being put in a box? I am capable, but I do not need to prove myself to anyone.

A lot has happened over the course of 19 years. What I do with the rest of my years...is yet to be determined. One thing for sure is...I will not stay in a box.

Edit Character

Back to the life of summer! It is coming and hopefully the weather will be nice this year. Lately, it has been really quite nice in the mornings, and then around noon it turns cloudy and rains. This is slightly frustrating as my tan will never actually be accomplished in the rain. Too bad. The truth of the matter is, having a tan really is not important. It is important to have good character, and to love people, and God. Good character? Doing what you say you'll do, being on time, being responsible, honest, thoughtful, respectful etc. Loving people? Caring about those who really don't care about you, even those people who can be brash, rude, and abrasive. Loving God? With the heart, soul, mind, and strength. That means taking care of one's body (being healthy), filling one's mind with good things, having a personal relationship with Christ 24/7 (not just on Sundays), and loving God with one's whole heart (protecting the heart, and not giving it away to just anyone). Truth be told, obtaining that kind of love for God is difficult, but not impossible. Loving others...is often more jaded.

Quote for the day: "What we are made of never changes, but who we are changes daily."

Love others, love God, and work on having a good character.

Cheers

The Whirlwind

After some travels and excitement (more like whirlwind) I find myself bored. Now that life is back to "normal." I just got back from a week in California and found it could be described as the vacation...that wasn't. I highly enjoyed body surfing however, and shopping. Sometimes it is very hard to be in California because people seem to be materially driven. One man we know spent $ 400,000 just on one car. Unfortunately for him, the only success he seems to have is in financial areas. It was good to spend time with family, and my sister's boyfriend. Family truly is very important. Back to the "normal" part of my life...I finished a bunch of laundry today, did some banking, worked on a creative project and went out for coffee/movie with friends. Why do whirlwind seem like so much more fun? They contain adventures, stories and sadly, do not last very long. Perhaps being stuck in a whirlwind would be tiring after awhile. After completing my first year at university, I have decided that many people are living lives they do not love - having careers they are not truly interested in, and having little personal satisfaction. Hopefully more people will realize that they can have a career and a life they love.
This summer I intend to train to run long distance, read lots of books, save some money, and have a nice social life. Nothing too exciting (not anything like a whirlwind). The key is to enjoy both the whirlwind and the windless days.

Cheers,
Amy

Impossible Guys

I stand strong to it: Being the happiest single ever. The only problem? Slight difficulties. See, friends or whatnot try to hook me up with people they know, or don't, just for "fun." They think I will have a better time dating someone than being single. Other complications? My guy friends get these girlfriends, and the girlfriends do not like me. Not that it would be a problem for them to come along and hang out, but they actually resort to not speaking to me. Strange! Other friends get the "wrong idea" and think that I am interested in them. I am interested in them - as people - but not as future dates. This is the most complicated thing of all: relationships. Hate losing friends to this. :-(

Amy

Photos, Dancing, Design School

Well, there is not a lot of time to tell of all the exciting things that have been happening lately. I've been dancing Monday to Friday for some classes, so that has been pretty fun. I've also been taking a studio class dealing with 3-D forms. My project right now is a large orange wedge/slice. It's pretty fun as well. For the summer-I might take some classes and hopefully a whole bunch of trips. To California, Montreal, Victoria...etc. The one great thing about roadtrips is...PICTURES! So...I've picked out a new camera (or two!) that would be really neat to save up for. I'm still teaching clubs, and been staying pretty busy. I still want to rent some CSI though...hahah.

Today, something funny happened. I was walking down a hallway with a friend of mine from class, when a guy jumped in front of me waving his arms like a crazyman. He was in my music class from the previous semester, and I guess another day he had waved but I didn't see him. Yesterday I ran into him at a local store, and he said the next time he saw me he would jump in front of me like that. Well...he was true to his word. LOL.

On a side note, I've been looking into some design schools. I've found some that caught me eye, so we'll see how that goes.
